After School

Our After School facilities operate independently from our nursery facilities. In the case of Mickleover we operate from Brookfield Primary School, The Hollow, Mickleover and Ravensdale Junior School, Devonshire Drive, Mickleover. At Heanor we operate from the Aldercar and Langley Mill OAP Centre, Bailey Brook Drive, Aldercar, Langley Mill.

In all cases the After School service starts at 3.30pm through to 6.00pm. Dependent upon which schools we pick up from then we can collect your child from school and then deliver them to either of the above facilities. In addition to the classrooms that we use we also have full use of large outdoor play areas, playing fields and School Halls. All staff are qualified and experienced Nursery Nurses with an abundance of ideas to create a fun club.

On arriving at the club the children are given a light snack to recharge their batteries and are then given the choice from a variety of activities on offer.

Television
The T.V. and video are set up so children can relax and wind down with a video of their choice or play on the Playstation. The emphasis is on complete fun!

Table top activities
We have a range of board games at hand including Monopoly, Scrabble, Connect 4, Pay Day and electronic games. We also do drawing, colouring, construction and jigsaws.

Outdoor Activities   
With our large outdoor play areas we can offer lots of team games like, football, rounders, tennis, running races, Frisbees, skipping races, kwik cricket e.t.c Should the weather be poor then we have use of the school halls to run off some of the excess energy! Various apparatus is used along with obstacle courses, short tennis, dodge ball, pirates e.t.c.

Homework
Children have the opportunity to complete some homework in a quiet area, always assuming they wish to! Staff are on hand to give the necessary guidance.

The overall aim with our After School is fun, fun, fun!

After a hard day at school children need the opportunity of free choice and a relaxing environment. Our qualified and experienced staff are able to offer this in a caring setting.

Holiday Club

During school holidays our Holiday Club service runs from Brookfield Primary School, The Hollow, Mickleover and from the Aldercar and Langley Mill OAP Centre, Bailey Brook Drive, Aldercar, Langley Mill. Both clubs start at 8am - 6pm each day. All the same facilities and activities exist for Holiday club as they do for After School, but, we also have a full programme of activities for the children to take part in.

We arrange trips and visits from interesting people and also have regular visits from a dance/drama teacher and a football coach, subject to availability. We provide a mid morning and mid afternoon snack but parents are asked to supply a packed lunch for dinner times.
